2011 Wiking U15 20/20 Cup

at SVANHOLM PARK in Copenhagen, Denmark (1st July – 4th July 2011)

The Swiss Under 15 squad travel to Copenhagen on Thursday 30th June to take part in the Wiking Under 15 Twenty20 Cup. The six participating teams will play five matches each over a period of four days. In the absence of any ICC European Championships for Under 15 and Under 17 teams in 2011, this tournament offers a wonderful opportunity for the Swiss players to once again show that they can be competitive against countries like Holland, Denmark and Belgium that are ranked way above them.

Switzerland will be fielding a strong Under 15 team that is made up of players from four Swiss junior clubs: Geneva Region Youth CC, Basel Dragons CC, Collège du Léman CC and Zurich Crickets CC. There are several players included in the team who compete regularly in the Swiss Colts team that plays in the senior Swiss competitions (Swiss League, Pickwick Cup and the Swiss Twenty20 Cup). The team is virtually unchanged from the unbeaten one that toured to Cambridgeshire in early June.

The Swiss team will be up against some of the strongest junior teams in Europe. The first match against Holland will be a tough test, but the team is certainly not overawed and will go into the match buoyed with confidence after playing excellent matches against top club sides in Cambridgeshire and after the successes of the Swiss Colts in recent senior league matches.
