Swiss Cricket finish 4th in La Manga

Ex-England international Mike Gatting & Swiss Cricket's Sudath Jayarathne

A Swiss National XI returned from the 4th Lady Taverners Charity Cricket Tournament (10th - 13th November 2011) in La Manga, Spain, winning 2 out of 4 matches and tied with 3 other teams on points.

Unfortunately Switzerland did not make it to the semi-final due an inferior run-rate, mainly due to a disasterous performance in the first game of the tournament.

However, although Switzerland did not qualify for the semi-final, some satisfaction can be taken from the fact that the Swiss defeated the eventual tournament winners, UK United Asians C.C., by a convincingly 8 wickets.

UK United Asians C.C. 142-7 lost to S.C.A. 143-2 by 8 wkts

La Manga C.C. 177-7 (20 overs) beat S.C.A. 121-8 (20 overs) by 56 runs

Match 4 (12th November 2011) v Alcoron Cricket Club (3^rd)

Alcoron C.C. 121 ao lost to S.C.A. 122-4 (16 overs) by 6 wkts

Performances of particular note were Ovais Yousuf, who scored 140 runs in 4 matches, and Sudath Jeyarathne (pictured here with ex-England international Mike Gatting) for a terrfic bowling performance, taking 9 wickets in 3 matches (3 Matches, 12 Overs, 57 Runs, 9 Wickets).
