Crowne Plaza Geneva sponsors Gingins Cricket Club

SCA Affiliate member the Gingins Cricket Club has great pleasure in announcing a new sponsorship agreement with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Geneva. Gingins CC, located in the beautiful Swiss village of Gingins situated 20 minutes from Geneva toward Lausanne in the foothills of the Jura, was established in 2008 and focuses solely on kids’ cricket.

Scott Poynton from Gingins CC provided details of the deal:

The Crowne Plaza have very kindly offered prizes in our annual raffle for the past two years and the Manager is a great advocate for community engagement. When I thanked him for his support to our raffle he said “Well, we could do more” which was all the invitation we needed to open discussions! A few meetings later and the hotel has agreed to sponsor the Club to the tune of CHF5,000! We’ll use the funding to buy two nets for the Gingins Centre Sportif and these will be a great boost to the training opportunities for our kids. In addition, we’ll have a new banner to raise at all our events and we have 8 free nights’ accommodation which we’ll use whenever we have coaches visiting from the UK. Lastly, we have 4 free Boardroom meeting bookings which we’ll use for our Committee meetings.

In return for the sponsorship, we’ve promised to promote the Crowne Plaza Hotel amongst all our parents and indeed amongst the broader Swiss cricket community. This is a terrific gesture from the Crowne Plaza and we’d like to repay them by encouraging our parents’ and other cricket-linked businesses to book their guests there at the hotel. Their “La Recolte” restaurant offers a great opportunity for fine dining as well.

So our hope is that the Swiss cricket community will support us and the development of junior cricket in the Geneva region by visiting the Crowne Plaza and sending them business whenever possible. If you’re ever in Geneva, try staying at the Crowne Plaza and if you do, ask to see Cypert Schwartz, the Dutch Manager and tell him you’re staying because he loves cricket!

We hope that this sponsorship might encourage other Clubs to speak to hotels and businesses in their community. We hope that other business managers can offer the same level of support and encouragement to other SCA Clubs as the Crowne Plaza has to us.

Our new cricket shirts carrying the Crowne Plaza logo will be on display at matches and tournaments from now on.
