The late Dr. David Barmes of Geneva C.C. was the first President of the Swiss Cricket Association.
In honour of his memory the Swiss Cricket Association has established a tradition that the winners of the S.C.A. league championship play a 40 over cricket match against the Swiss national team to mark the beginning of the season and for the prestige of winning the David Barmes memorial trophy.
Members of SCA affiliated clubs should contact Asvin Lakkaraju if they are interested in representing the SCA National XI in this fixture.

Dr. David Barmes, died unexpectedly in Australia on the evening of Friday 12th January 2001. David was on holiday with his family at their summer beach house 250 km south from Sydney when he was reported to have died peacefully in his sleep. He was aged 69.
David Barmes had been Geneva CC's President for the most part of 30 years and served two terms as SCA President. David was a man of exceptional qualities. Best known to many were his skills in chairing meetings. To others he became a good friend and confidant. A born raconteur, many will remember the time spent in his company, listening to his unsurpassed rendering of Australian, and so many other ballards. There was no-one in the world who would describe him as their enemy. Formal announcements were made in Le Temps and La Tribune de Genéve on Wednesday 17th January 2001. David's funeral took place on Tuesday 23rd January 2001 in Brisbane. At the SCA AGM on Saturday 20th January the meeting began with a one minute silence in memory of David.
